In line with its efforts to support the government initiatives , especially those related to enhancing public awareness and knowledge, the General Pension and Social Security Authority (GPSSA) launched a number of initiatives and activities, during the year 2016, that support the Reading Year initiative. 

Through these initiatives and activities, GPSSA targets its key stakeholders internally and externally.

Read Initiative

Through this initiative, the authority targets its own employees in an effort to motivate them to read and enrich their knowledge on different subjects. A complete section was dedicated within the authority's internal magazine for employees where an employee summarizes a book he/she has read and suggests it for others to read.

Readers' Forum

Readers Forum represents a platform to review and share ideas from any of the books enjoyed by an employee, who gifts the book at the end of the presentation an attendee in order to raise the awareness about reading and encourage the employees to adopt this culture as daily activity.

Reading Hour

Reading Hours is a responsive initiative to the Decree of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of UAE to make March or every year a month of reading, in an unprecedent gesture to promote the knowledge society in UAE and enhance the reading efforts throughout the State. The GPSSA shared this initiative with many entities inside the UAE which was welcomed and participated in by the employees of the Authority.

Library

The GPSSA established its own library for the employees at Headquarter in Abu Dhabi, to implant the culture of reading and spread knowledge among employees who can benefit from the valuable books available in the Library including stories & novels, humanities and social books and publications of arts, literature and culture, along with many biographies and self-improvement, public relations books, in addition to many books evoke the cultural and social traditions of the UAE.

Year of Giving - Donations

In the occasion of "Year of Giving", the GPSSA launched "O seeker of the good; come near!" Initiative in which the Authority staff contributed to provide Iftar for 500 fasting people in cooperation with Dar Al Bar Association, which in turn supervised on the processing and distribution of meals to fasting people at Ibrahim Khalil Mosque in Bur Dubai. 

Law FAQs Booklet

Through this initiative, the authority targets all of its stakeholders, urging them to read the law on pension and social security by summarizing it and re-producing it in an easy to read booklet.
