Employees at the UAE’s Pension Authority stand in solidarity and pride as they celebrate UAE Flag Day
Abu Dhabi, 3rd November 2022: The General Pension and Social Security Authority (GPSSA) celebrated the UAE Flag Day in the presence of 200 employees from 18 different nationalities, who all stood in unity, solidarity and pride as they witnessed the UAE flag rise in front of GPSSA’s headquarters at 11:00am today.
During the event Dr. Maysa Rashed Ghadeer, Director of the Government Communications Office at the GPSSA, delivered an opening speech about the story behind the UAE Flag Day, which started off with a tweet written by HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and then turn into a campaign by the Emirati national Hassan Al Mazrouei entitled ‘Above Our Homes is a Flag’ until HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum approved the idea on November 3rd and called the entire initiative UAE Flag Day, which has now turned into an official occasion held on the 3rd of November each year to celebrate the UAE flag.
Ghadeer added that this year’s UAE Flag Day is unique from any other year since it is celebrated under the leadership of HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, may God protect him, and is an opportunity for individuals to renew their oath towards the UAE and its leadership, while remembering those who departed us with love, prayer and appreciate efforts and sacrifices exerted towards the nation, one that helped turn the UAE into a united strong nation.
During the event, GPSSA’s employees lined up in pride, side by side, watching the UAE flag rise to the delightful symphony of the national anthem Ishy Bilady (Long Live my Country).
Students from the Abu Dhabi Police College then performed a military show, during which they played the most prominent Emirati musical pieces to celebrate the occasion, which ended by honoring the participants from the police college, and expressing dua’a (prayer of invocation) towards preserving the UAE, perpetuating its glory and preserving its leaders, people, and flag.
