As part of its awareness campaign ‘Discover Your Advantages’ GPSSA explains to the Twenty-Four News website, end-of-service cases received by the authority
Abu Dhabi, 29th September 2022: The General Pension and Social Security Authority (GPSSA) said that the end-of-service files that are received by the authority arrive under three different scenarios, the first includes an end-of-service file of less than one year, and this period according to the law refrains an insured individual from receiving a reward, however he/she can opt to combine these months upon joining a new employer. The GPSSA in such situations, encourages the insured individual to complete the year in his/her entity in order to take advantage of the insurance benefits. It should be noted however that an insured member who does not obtain the end-of-service for the mentioned period does not enjoy the insurance benefits while working during that period.
As part of the awareness campaign, Explore Your Advantages, the GPSSA pointed out that the second case involves an end of service file for a period of more than one year to 19 years and 11 months. This period qualifies for a reward of 1.5 months' salary for each year of the first five years of service and a salary for 1.5 months. Two months out of the next five years of service, then three months’ salary for each year in excess of that.
The GPSSA clarified that the third case includes an end-of-service file for a period of more than 19 years, a11 month and a day, and its owner is entitled to a retirement pension due to the fulfillment of the period eligible for the pension, which is 20 years of service, whereby part of the month is considered by law to be a full month.
The authority said that in these three scenarios, other files arrive to the authority as a result of death, total disability, work injury and occupational diseases. These exceptional cases are dealt with according to the terms and conditions stipulated by the law.
The GPSSA pointed out that the insured who has completed a service period of 20 years may not choose between the payment of the pension or the end of service gratuity, which also applies to the case of linking the pension to reach the age of 50, as it is not possible to pay a reward instead of the pension.
